Overview
I composed another song this week with an anime-style vibe. In anime and games, there is a concept known as a “death flag”—a sort of omen signaling that a character is about to meet their end. For this track, I wrote lyrics about a protagonist who realizes a death flag has been raised against them and defiantly declares, “I refuse to die.” In Japan and China, there appears to be a culture that highly values individuals who accept death with dignity and sacrifice themselves to protect something deemed more important than life itself; such values seem to be reflected in anime and games. The protagonist of this work, however, might be described as someone who completely rejects those values. The lyrics I have written are as follows.
