Gambling Addiction
Recently, I have become addicted to Suno AI, and this time I wrote lyrics on the theme of gambling addiction. Before moving on to the lyrics and music, I would like to briefly explain gambling addiction.
The main symptom of gambling addiction is an obsession with gambling that results in large losses and then leads to financial troubles (debt, theft, embezzlement, etc.) in order to make up for these losses. In many cases, the losses are so large that they cannot be covered by income from work, and so people become even more addicted to gambling in the hope of a sudden turnaround. This is just a guess, but I think there are many people whose sense of money is lost and they lose the motivation to work honestly. The government’s reason for banning gambling is that it “harms the good spirit of work,” and one could say that the most serious symptom of gambling addiction is “being unable to work honestly.”
Perhaps in many cases, the following three phenomena are closely interrelated and inseparable, and the cause and effect may be unclear.
- Gambling Addiction
- Loss of motivation to work and feelings of disappointment and hopelessness in work
- Isolation from surrounding relationships
In some cases, phenomena 2 and 3 may occur as a result of gambling addiction, and in other cases, phenomena 2 and 3 may result in a person becoming addicted to gambling. If cause 1 is the cause, then the brain’s functioning may be disrupted by experiencing a strong success, such as winning a large amount of money in a short period of time through gambling (beginner’s luck). In reality, there are probably many cases where reasons 2 and 3 are the cause, and it seems like this kind of phenomenon can happen to anyone. It is not uncommon for people to become frustrated with their work, choose gambling as a way to earn an income, and end up becoming addicted to gambling. It is also common for people to become disappointed with their family or home and turn to gambling as a way to escape. If you look at the lyrics of this song with this background knowledge in mind, you may find it easier to understand the content.
Lyrics
I’m gradually becoming accustomed to writing lyrics in Japanese, and this time I wrote the lyrics in Japanese with the same number of characters, so I ended up creating a song with Japanese lyrics. I will post the English lyrics in a separate article. Although the content may seem somewhat realistic, I would like to state in advance that it has nothing to do with the author (the lyrics are based on my imagination).
[Verse]
[Verse]
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Verse]
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
[Chorus]
[Final Chorus]
Finished Song
Since this is a Japanese song, I included keywords such as j-pop, dark, and melancholy. The instruments include piano and acoustic guitar, the basic instruments of a band.I generated a few songs, and it seems like a lot of them sounded like anime songs. Perhaps the lyrics sounded like the theme song for a depressing game or anime. Also, although the lyrics seem to have a male protagonist, I felt that a female vocalist would fit the image better. The song I liked the most out of the ones I generated was the following.

When I first heard it, I thought the female vocals matched the image and the chorus was cool. I also thought it was interesting that the melodies of the verse and pre-chorus were alternated (or maybe the tag I gave them was just ignored?).
The lyrics in general convey that there is no salvation, and I think they do a good job of expressing the sense of despair that comes with gambling addiction. At the end of the song, the lyrics ask, “Can I dream once more?” However, for people with real gambling addiction, the answer is probably over 99% likely to be “No.” It is likely that once your sense of money is damaged, it will never be repaired, and it is unlikely that you will be able to earn a large income through work or gambling. In the first place, there is a high possibility that working honestly would be extremely painful for them. The reality may be that they will have to live patiently, constantly aware of the possibility of recurrence. People around them have to be very careful to keep an eye on them, and it seems that gambling addiction can be a hellish experience for not only the person but also those around them. It seems that gambling addiction is a serious social problem.
Additional Track
I’ve said that I wanted to create an instrumental of “all-in”, but it hasn’t worked out yet. By chance, I decided to play around and change the instruments to an orchestral one, and the vocals disappeared and it became instrumental. I thought it should have been made instrumental when it was in its normal setting, but since it’s a song that can be listened to normally, I decided to leave it as it is. The percussion instruments are a drum set and the electric bass is still present, so it doesn’t seem like a typical orchestral composition, but it doesn’t feel particularly strange (although some listeners might think it’s strange).
