Overview
Following up on the previous entry, I plan to create an “anime-pop” style track themed around elves. In Japan, the image of elves in RPGs is strongly associated with forest dwellers, so they are frequently assigned attributes like Wind or Wood.In reality, since they are akin to what are known as seirei (elemental spirits) in Japan, it is not uncommon for Western games to feature elves with various elemental attributes—including, of course, fire. However, given the stereotypical image of elves held by Japanese people, the idea of a fire-aspected elf might provoke a reaction like, “Fire element? What, are they planning to burn down the forest? lol”
For this track, I turned that concept into lyrics. It is a pop-style song centered on an elf who is bewildered by the fact that they are a “Fire-attribute” elf. The character exists because a game developer lazily mass-produced characters with different attributes without giving it any real thought, and the lyrics reflect this frustration, essentially asking, “What were they thinking?” The lyrics are as follows.
